Bushveld Landscape

Where It All Started

Close your eyes for a moment.

Imagine a warm afternoon in the South African bushveld. The air carries the faint scent of dry grass and distant rain. Acacia trees cast long shadows across open plains. Somewhere nearby, a fire crackles quietly as the sun begins its slow descent behind ancient mountains.

This is the world that inspired WR Biltong.

A Tradition Older Than Memory

For generations, people across Southern Africa have preserved meat using a method passed down through families, shared around campfires, and carried on long journeys through wild and beautiful country.

The process is simple. The patience required is not.

Premium cuts of beef are carefully seasoned  — then hung to air-dry slowly over days. No heat. No smoke. No shortcuts. Just time, tradition and the kind of quiet craftsmanship that produces something genuinely extraordinary.

The result is biltong. And once you’ve tasted the real thing, nothing else quite compares.

Wit Rivier — White River

WR stands for Wit Rivier — Afrikaans for White River.

White River is a small town nestled in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, surrounded by subtropical forests, rolling hills and the kind of landscapes that stay with you long after you’ve left. It sits at the edge of the lowveld, just a short drive from one of the world’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries — Kruger National Park.

This is a place where elephants move through the bush at dawn, where lions rest beneath fever trees in the afternoon heat, and where the night sky stretches uninterrupted from horizon to horizon.

It is a place that reminds you what matters.

Family. Food. Stories. Time spent together in the open air.

These are the values that WR Biltong was built upon.

Bringing the Tradition to Australia

Australia and Southern Africa share more than most people realise. Wide open spaces. A love of the outdoors. A culture built around adventure, sport, family and the simple pleasure of great food shared with good people.

WR Biltong was created to bring an authentic African tradition to Australian tables — using premium Australian beef, traditional preparation methods, and an honest commitment to quality that never wavers.

We don’t cut corners. We don’t rush the process. We don’t add what doesn’t belong.

We simply make biltong the way it has always been made — with care, with patience, and with genuine respect for the tradition behind it.
